I'm trying to record a script for a SAP Portal transaction. In my application I have a webelement that has the name displayed as "TASKS" in general. But depending upon the user we logged into the application this text or displayed name changes. For ex. the user X has 1 tasks assigned to him. So the webelement is showing as "TASKS (1)".
Similarly it keeps changing based on the tasks number to that user. It is not consistent.
All I need is to click that webelement to perform further operation irrespective of the no.of tasks assigned to him.
I tried to use wildcard in Innerhtml & Innertext to refer that webelement but it doesn't help. Getting error message saying object not found.

When you use a wild card, you increase the probability of your test object's definition(or description) matching more than one object in the application under test. So you can try adding "index" to your object's description as in:
