how to work with a single file with multiple users

    Hi All,

i opened one script from QC at the same time my colleague opened same script from QC. I am able to edit/modify the script but for my colleague it opened as "read only mode".

    Question:
can we open a script at a time in two/multiple systems in QTP.

if yes tell me how to open?
    if not tell me why?

    Thanks,
    Santu

QC is not a Version control. even if you add a version control add-in I don't think QC can marge 2 files together but you can try with add-in. one way is save it to local and update when it is available to write. use Notepad++ to compare or other free tool to check what is updated.

you can use notepad++ just for comparison but do not try to edit while comparision as it will add binary code and you files would corrupt.

Do you really want two people to be able to edit it at the same time? Or do you just want someone to be able to run while someone else is editing? The Read Only mode should be fine for execution.
