Re: Can QTP record Ajax object in a web application?

That's not exactly uncommon. It's just the way the developers coded it, that they are not actually using a list, they are using a webedit.
The app. I'm working on behaves the same in general.

What is the specific error you are getting?
In my app, the .set method did not work well on these custom edit lists, and we ended up having to do most of them differently.

The solution that tended to work best was (there are variations of this):
    browser("xyz").page("xyz").webedit("theEdit").obje ct.focus
    browser("xyz").page("xyz").webedit("theEdit").obje ct.value=InputText

now sometimes we had to add a step forcing it to tab out using sendkeys, or hit enter. That was when the value would seem to appear, but on submitting the page the application would act as if the field was blank.

Really though it depends on exactly what are you trying to accomplish as to which method would work best.
