    Object repository issues

I'm working with a VB application on a Virtual Machine running Windows Server. I can initially create object that records at VBWindows, buttons, and other itemss etc..

Then out of nowwhere it seems, I get object reference errors and nothing in my object respository works. When I try to verify objects again they are all recognized as WinObjects.. No vbButtons, or ActiveX controls.

Anyone have any ideas on what is happening?

QTP opened first or your application.

    Re: Object repository issues

    Hi All,

After some futher investigation it appears that when I execute a BPT Test Script the QTP AddIn's are getting overwritten and Visual Basic AddIn is removed.

Any idea's on why a BPT Test Script would change QTP's AddIn settings?

    Re: Object repository issues

FYI: I've been looking at this more and it looks like the BPT execution is overwritting my QTP AddIn settings and removing the Visual Basic AddIn.

I'm not sure why this is happening yet, but I'll keep you posted with what I find.

    Re: Object repository issues

Just check, if you can run the same test on your local machine with the same add-ins associated to the test.

    Re: Object repository issues

I can run the components seperately on the local machine via QTP with no problem. But when I try to run the BP Test Scripts from QC on the local machine it get object recognition failures and the VB AddIn is removed.

check if there is any vbs file which over writes the test settings.

    Re: Object repository issues

Problem solved.... I realized the Application Area that I was using did not have the Visual Basic AddIn selected.

I'm new to QTP and Qaulity Center so I'm not sure if this is normal behavior or unique to the specialized workflow setting my client has set up for QC.

    Re: Object repository issues

If you wanna change the default behavior in QC, you can make some changes, like loading default script or default add-ins in the QTP test - Template 10 in the path: C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Add-in For ALM-QC\bin\Templates.

When the changes are saved and you save the scripts in QC again, will solve your problem you're running into.
