we are supporting 3 different languages for which we are maintaining 3 separate VBS files.
what i suggest is segregate the common files and make as generic to be used across the 2 different versions/languages.
and then make 2 vbs files one for English and one for Japanese.

in that way you can achieve maximum re usability.

As we have functionality different from one language to another, we have chosen this approach.

If you can give more details than some one can help you.

Re: Reg. internalization testing using QTP

you should use keyword driven approach/table format.

    for example..

Browser("name:=MyBro").Page("name:=MyPage") is your code in english..

    then

Browser("name:=japneezebro").Page("name:=japneezep age") might be in Japneese

so, the idea is - your properties and data will be changed as per language.

You need to maaintain two data/properties sheet for two different language.

I worked on HP application (15 languages) using same approach.

Re: Reg. internalization testing using QTP

for example, on submitting a page, ur english app. displays "Thank You"

in other language it might be.. "Gracia"

Means ur expected result is getting changed.

So you need to maintain exp. result in excel and actual result tou can get from application using getroproperty.

for maintaining expected result, you might use bubble fish or other translator.. or depends on requirement..

Re: Reg. internalization testing using QTP

    Hi John,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I tried the way you suggested for doing POC. I stored japaneese text in excel and queried on excel.I have given message box to check the value but it is displaying as some characters(unreadable characters)but not the japaneese text.

Please let me know how to proceed.

    Best Regards,
    Kanth

How you retrieved japaneese text from application?

As per my understanding, you are able to retrive jap. text and save it to excel. but you face issue when you read it back from excel. m i right?
