Can anyone tell, how we can make the scripts read only... so other persons cannot edit or change the scripts.
Where are the scripts stored? QC?
I don't think there is a way to make the QTP scripts read only. but you can make a back up of your scripts. I use the SVN to store all my QTP scripts.
when things gets harder ,the harder gets going
you need admin access to the repository share to set all scripts stored in this share to "read only", thats all
de omnibus dubitandum
For all Questions: Please be sure to take a look at the QTP Manual before posting any Questions, thanks for doing this
you can also open the script from your local machine in QTP as read -only , only if you select the check box "open in read only mode"
You can mark the folder as read-only.
A source control (something like VSS or QC) is a better solution.
Actually Scripts are stored in my local, but in my absence manual team members have to run the script in my local, so i am making sure that they will not edit the script... so i want to make the scripts read only for them.
Check the below post.
Level 4: Shared on the Network (Read-Only)
I think if there is any write operation on any external resource this setting would throw an error. Just check, if you are exporting any data on to local drive.
Winds of Change
Simple way to do it...
1. Save your script in Test1 >> Action1
2. Create Test2 >> and call (Test1 >> Action1)
Now, when you will open test2, all code will be read only.
3. Don't tell manual team about Test1
Hope it'll work.
