Can we automate drag and drop functionality

We have an application which is developed in vb.net and here we need to move the files from one folder and drop it in another folder and verify the files. It can be done only using drag and drop. Can you tell me whether we can automate this functionality using QTP.

Re: Can we automate drag and drop functionality

Hey u need to check, if the files have been moved then use the FileSystemobject model. U can check for the file in the new folder after this operation is performed and check for its content.

Prior to checking the destination folder, check the files that are already available and if the file that is being moved or dragged already exists in the destination folder.
Thanks,

Yes there is an object.drag and object.drop method available. They take in coordinates, so you could run into problems running on multiple machines with different resolutions and such.

creativetestking,

Explore the internal methods for the folder object, that you want to move. Look if the object has Bounds property or some other property which gives you the coordinates of the object. Then you could retrieve them and use that as parameters for the Drop method.

This way you can avoid the resolution issue mentioned by Ryan.

Can you post a snapshot of the .NET object spy?

Re: Can we automate drag and drop functionality

Hi,

I have to automate a dra-drop functionality where in I hhave to select some records in Excel, drag them and drop onto the .net app grid.

I tried Analog recording(relative to screen) aswell but not finding it a good solution as it failes if screen settings change. I am working on QTP 10.0 with .net app. Please suggest...
