Download/upload test scripts from/to QC in bulk

    Hi,

I am using QTP 10. I have many automation scripts available in QC. Now I want to move these scripts to new domain/project in QC.

I know one way to do this which is - open the script in QTP (by connecting QTP to QC). And then save the script to File system. But we can do this script by script and not in bulk.

Could you please suggest me how we can move/save the scripts in Bulk?

Does anyone have macro to do so?

This then goes into the domain of QC Admin and not a QTP expert. You should check with your QC Admin team and see if they think this is possible to achieve

You could also create a AOM script to do this.

    1. Connect to Server One.
    2. Download script to Local Machine.
    3. Connect to Server Two.
    4. Upload Script to Server Two.

The Simplest way would be by using the sql queries. Run those SQL queries on the QC DB. Which could help for solving your issue.

For SQL Queries to be runned , I guess QC Admin experts can be helpful in this.

Is it possible to open 2 copies of Quality Center in 2 seperate browser instances, and then copy and paste the tests from one project to another?

I'm sure I did this once with a bunch of manual tests.

    Hi,

Open two QC browsers one with your old domain and other one with new domain. Maintain the same folder structure in both domains. Just copy the test and past it there.
I have done this by moving the scripts from Test to production domains.

    Hari

It is possible to copy from one project to another by opening both the instances in 2 separate browsers and copy from one to another..Make sure you use Right click copy, Right click paste and not keyboard shortcuts. You need to have admin rights though.

The other option if you want to save to your local drive is using QC OTA and QTP AOM i.e. Write a Vbscript utilizing QC OTA to get a list of all the scripts from the required location in QC and then loop using QTP AOM to open each script from the list and save it to disk. I have used this previously and was successful in making a local copy for archiving purposes. You can use the same for QC to QC also i.e. Use OTA and AOM to copy to local drive and then save it back to another project in QC

They need to be the same QC server version. Else the auto update of DLL files will fire and fail for one of the QC

    Hi All,

Is it a good practices to access directly QC server Db for any such actions/tasks to be performed?

    Needed your thoughts on this.
