Powershell with QuickTest Pro
1. Which automation software testing tool should we select?
2. Does any tool work best with Powershell?
I am about to start a new position as QA Analyst, and our team has the fortunate opportunity to choose a testing tool. With 5 yrs. experience as a QA Analyst mainly using SQL to verify data file integrity, I am a novice with software testing automation. However, we are comparing testing software to ideally start off with an appropriate tool for an agile .NET environment. Several QA professionals suggest QTP which uses VBscript. A few.NET developers have strongly recommended learning Powershell since it integrate so well within Windows/.net environments. I am curious if powershell is something that QA testers regularly use within QTP or if this is not that common. In what I've read, it can be used for several purposes, but I thought mainly system administrators use it to perform administrative tasks. Should I mainly focus on become familiar with VBscript, and then tackle the powershell later? Or, based on the .net/agile/automated testing environment, does anyone recommend a different tool than QuickTest Pro?
thanks for reading.
If I want to utilize powershell, is QTP a good testing tool to choose or would there be better alternatives?
Re: Powershell with QuickTest Pro
You may be able to identify objects if you run powershell inside its ISE....google powershell ISE.
If not tried it and cant comment much more as I dont use it but worth a look.
