Comparing content of webtables in 2 different page

    Hi,

If I can use your Brains please:

    I have 2 applications
A (with page PA and a Table TA in PA)
B (with page PB and a Table TB in PB).

I need to compare Data in TA and TB are same. Any Ideas??

    Things I have considered:
    1) Copying content to a Dictionary object or multi dimensional array and comparing it.

    2) Exporting the content into an .csv file and compare.

    3) I can put a sql trace on each database (For your information A and B have their own databases) and get the queries and check each data individually rather than UI vs UI.

Note: Have not been using QTP for last 2.5 years so looking for any standard approaches for testing 2 web apps simultaneously.

Load the data from Table TA in a DataTable and then compare it against table TB.

If you can have both applications open at the same time, check the Row and Column counts are the same. If the counts are the same retrieve the data from the first cells in each grid and compare, then move to the next

    <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>For i = 0 to rCount
    For x = 0 to cCount
    compare...
    Next
    Next</pre><hr />
    Cheers

Re: Comparing content of webtables in 2 different page

A very simple, good and time saving alternative is using OR/spy on webtable/webelement and check "outertext" or "innertext" or "text" property, where you can find full content of web table as text format.

Get this property from TA and TB.

String Comparison: Now compare text from TA to the text of TB for perfect match.

You can extend this simple method to any object/page though. All the best!!!
    Kind regards,
