I have a ton of my scripts in QTP 8.2 that need to remain in QTP 8.2 and my company recently purchased QTP 9.5. The issue is that the QTP 9.5 needs the QTP 8.2 "license" (not script) to be upgraded, which i am hesitant to do.
My questions are,
1 - Can you have two QTP versions (8.2 & 9.5) work in parallel on different machines using one license ?
2 - Does upgrading my QTP 8.2 license to 9,5 as QTP requests, will I be able to use QTP 8.2 scripts ? (I do not want to convert certain scripts to 9.5 version).
I' ve tried contacting HP but i can never get a response from them, they leave me hanging on the tech support call.
1. I guess this should be possible, I have used the same license server for V8.2 and V9.0/1/2 in the past.
Even now, the same server is what is being used for v9.2/5 and V10.
2. There is no backward compatibility in QTP, so if the scripts are converted, no way they can be used in previous versions.
Create copy of existing scripts, to use two working versions, the pain would be to make changes in both the scripts and also some features available in 9.5 would not be available in 8.2(another risk )
But did you upgrade the license ? QTP 9.5 doesn't seem to launch (although it installed) with the old QTP 8.2 concurrent license.
My fear is, that i upgrade the license and then all my QTP 8.2 scripts wouldn't launch.
