    Vanishing values

I am facing a strange issue. I am automating a Java application using QTP 10.0. When I enter value in any text box using QTP the very next second the value gets erased automatically while this is not happening manually. I have tried using "Type" instead of "Set". This issue is intermittent type of issue it occurs 50% of times and rest of the times script works fine. Any idea what could be the problem.

    Re: Vanishing values

One issue could be the speed of typing, another could be missing delays required between each step

    Re: Vanishing values

I tried using Send Keys, inserted delays..none of the worked. However I could find a solution :
It works only if I used below mentioned steps in the same sequence..

    1. I used focus method to focus on the edit box
    2. Then clicked on it.
    3. Then Used set method
    4. Few text boxes are still erasing the values, I checked the value (existence) after set if the value is not there I used type.

Strange but it is working. Seems like there is some event running on the edit boxes which I can not figure out the application being a product.

    Re: Vanishing values

Is there some validation on that text-box?

Coz for some of them I can not enter i.e. type in a number value (as they have validation for alphabets only), but I can do a (copy and) paste of a special character/number string.
