We are going to be new users of QTP shortly and will be testing Oracle Financials with this, version 11.5.10.
At some future point we will be upgrading to version 12, and so need to be mindful of the areas that will differ between the two versions. We dont want to spend a lot of time automating something that changes a lot when we upgrade.
With that in mind, has anyone done an upgrade from 11.5.10 to 12 where automated scripts existed, and if so how much maintenance did you have to do to make the scripts work?
If you are taking about Oracle Database upgrade then you dont have to worry about QTP scripts. If you are upgrading the Oracle Forms version from 11 to 12 then it might have a slight impact but not a major one. You would have to spend effort on your Automation Object Repository only, rest of the areas will not get affected. Try using the latest version of QTP for this initiative.
Yes all you need to do is on your OR nothing else. But do make sure that an upgrade to Oracle Fusion would be a major work, As Oracle Fusion is web based and converting your scripts from Oracle forms to a Fusion based application would be a entire rework.
