I am new to this forum.
Is there anyway to create automated test scripts using QTP without any application(windows/web based).
I have requirements and the results for the requirements in the spreadsheet.Results spread sheet contains the data of customers which satisfy all the conditons from the
requirements spread sheet.There are more than 10,000 records,instead of checking each and every record manually,
i want to automate the scripts.
Can someone please suggest easy way to automate the scripts.
As explained in the above post i am checking all the data using SQL from Oracle database.There are 15 separate conditions for a customer to be qualified for some benefits.For each and every condition i am checking it manually and it's time consuming.Developers gave me all the data of qualified customers in spreadsheet which contains customer id,last name,first name,ssn,dob.......I am taking customer id and checking that customer satisfies those 15 conditions individually.
I want to automate the script and check for every individual customer by importing from excel sheet.
Please suggest me how to automate scripts for this.
Above scenario can very well be automated by using VBScript. You don't even need QTP for the same.
I don't have a specific URL handy at the moment but suggest you to look for how to deal with Excel files. like reading , updating them. See below piece of code for reading data from excel file. I hope this would give you some pointers to start with
Dim Excel_App,Excel_Book,Excel_WorkSheet,Excel_column, Excel_Row
Set Excel_App = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Set Excel_Book = Excel_App.Workbooks.open("File path")
Set Excel_WorkSheet = Excel_Book.Worksheets("Excel file name")
Excel_column = Excel_WorkSheet.usedrange.columns.count
Excel_row = Excel_WorkSheet.usedrange.rows.count
'Reading data from specific cells..
ECS_Config_File_Path = Excel_Worksheet.cells(1,2)
ECS_Worksheet_Name = Excel_Worksheet.cells(2,2)
Set Excel_App = Nothing
Set Excel_Book = Nothing
Set Excel_WorkSheet = Nothing
