QTP throws \'invalid file\' message for excel sheet
Our project involves working on lot of excel sheets with QTP. Very often I keep getting error message from QTP that file is invalid.
When I copy and paste the same data in a brand new excel sheet, problem is solved.
But, had a hard time figuring out what's going on with those excel sheets.
QTP reads these excels from both QC and local machine and I hv seen errors on both scenarios.
Anybody with similar experience? please throw some light.
Re: QTP throws \'invalid file\' message for excel sheet
QTP is pretty picky when it comes to the data files it lets you open. One frequent cause for this message that I've run into is the presence of a dash vs. a hyphen. That is, sometimes Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel will auto-format "-" characters to appear visibly longer. This dash is an invalid character that QTP doesn't like.
