Hi All,

If I want to create testing script using vbscript in QTP, how can I start to develop it?

Re: QTP Script

That thing on your desk with all those letters and numbers and symbols... Well its called a keyboard. You use that to type formatted text (code) into the QTP IDE.

If you get the typing bit right (correct syntax) then your code will work.

Friend,

You can follow what kishore and Prince says.Thats a good one.
Even if you want you can use object spy to get your application's objects attribute names and proceed with that.
Thanks,
Godwin

Re: QTP Script

I'm guessing (or hoping) the question you intended to ask was "Is there any way to write my scripts using pure VBScript and raw QTP objects rather than all of the unnecessary QTP infrastructure?" As far as I know, the answer is "No".

Re: QTP Script

Interesting. Any pointers on how one would go about this? And I'm not talking about the "QTP Automation" COM objects that are used to automate QTP itself.

Re: QTP Script

And to further clarify, I'm also not talking about "Expert Mode". I'm talking about a pure VBScript mode where there is no concept of "Actions" or "Object Repositories", and QTP doesn't even attempt to manage libraries for me.

Re: QTP Script

I did this for sometime using Notepad++ to write code and Descriptive programming for objects. All QTP was used for was a run engine.

Now days I do use OR's a lot more. But now I use an interpretive framework that requires very little code to be written. 99% of standard methods are handled by keywords. What cant be handled by keyword is called as coded component.

The single biggest issue facing Automation these days in the tunnel vision attitude of the practitioners of Automation.
