Hi there, I am just working through the QTP 10.0 Tutorial.
I am told to open the Object Repository Manager (Menu --> Resources --> Object Repository Manager). According to the Tutorial a Window should open....
If I do this, nothing happens though.
Is this maybe a Function only working if QTP is connected to Quality Center?
I already read a similar post in this forum about the ORM not showing up. I am not using dual monitors or anything and already tried to delete the XML files contaning the user interface settings - to no avail.
One of the members on my Team had a similar issue this week but with the Object Repository itself and not the manager where he was unable to open it..It used to work fine earlier but one day it stopped working.
QTP Uninstall and Re-install solved the issue..Hope it helps
The article you are refering to is about the object repositor window that doesnt show. That is not my problem, my problem is that the object repository manager(ORM) wont open. The object repository window is not a problem, but I cannot create different repositories since the ORM simply wont open.
It seems like I am not the only one who is facing this problem but its really hard to find a solution on the net. I am afraid I have to contact support.
I did read the article and whats strange is that the following files are not present on my laptop:
Maybe it has something to do with the installation?
I also ran into this problem of the Object Repository Manager not showing up on a trial installation of QTP 10. I've tried doing an uninstall/reinstall as well as logging onto the machine with a different user but no luck yet.
I did encounter a problem during the installation where it seems to freeze, and used the workaround described here: http://www.sqaforums.com/showflat.php?Number=510806. Similar to what was described in that thread, I too am using a Lenovo T61. I wonder if these installation hiccups are related to the problem.
Anyhow I just thought I'd share that in case others run into this same problem and happen to have a suggestion on how to work around it.
After digging around I finally found a fix. It does go back to the problems encountered while installing.
While the installation freezes at "Registering Modules", from Process Explorer I noticed that the msiexec processes that were freezing up were trying to self-register dll files (e.g. "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsiExec.exe" /Y "C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\BitmapVerObj.dll").
So what I did was everytime the installation froze, I took note of each and every dll file where msiexec seemed to have trouble with (in my case, there were 10 dll files). After the installation, I manually registered all of the dll files via regsrv32. After I did that, the object repository manager started appearing
