Retrieve Data from printer using API

I am automating a script in which I need to check the data sent to printer. I Trid using Windows API calls. Tried using openPrinter() using below code.

Extern.Declare micLong, "OpenPrinter", "Spoolss.dll", "OpenPrinterA", micString, micLong, micLong

But getting 'Invalid procedure call or argument'

Can someone help me on this? Other way to retrieve data from printer will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
