I have problems with the Description Programming in visualBasic, ActiveX and Java objects.
Is it possible apply this methodology (D.P.) with this kind of objects?
I found a lot of examples about that, but always with web objects.
We have an Application with parts in VisualBasic and parts in Java. Also, there are Tables and other things in ActiveX.
It's difficult to explain because It's not a commercial application.
We use the properties in D.P. that the Repository identifies. And it can't find the object, but when we write the object of the repository, it find with difficult but it find the object.
First of all Descriptive programming is more like a concept or a way of doing things. It can be applied to all the objects you mentioned above. It all depends on how you use it.
Secondly, you said you are able to find it when you added it to the OR but that is delayed as well. This means that Smart identification is kicking in in order to recognise the object.
For you to make this work with descriptive programming, you should figure out the properties with which you can identify the object uniquely. It could be a property of the object or it could be the index if you have multiple objects with similar properties.
If Smart identification is kicking in as I am suspecting, you can see in the report which extra properties are being used to identify the object. Once you know that, you can use it in DP
