Unable to enter data in WebEdit Text Area

    Hi,

We are automating our web application using keyword driven framework in QTP 9.5. It is descriptive programming.

We have a main page and we have to click a link that will open a Web Edit Text Area in a new window.

In object repository, the browser property "name" is blank and the page property "title" is blank. We have used the following code:

    -------------------xxxxx---------------------
    Set oBrowser = Description.Create
    oBrowser("name").value = " "
    oBrowser("title").value = <title>
    Set oPage = Description.Create
    oPage("url").value = <url>
    Set oWebEdit = Description.Create
    oWebEdit("micclass").value = "WebEdit"
    oWebEdit("html tag").value = "TEXTAREA"

    Set oAllWebEdit = Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage).ChildObjects(oWebEdi t)
    For i=0 to oAllWebEdit.Count-1
    If Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage).Exist(5000) Then
    If (oAllWebEdit(i).GetRoProperty("name") = gstrObjectName(0)) and (oAllWebEdit(i).GetRoProperty("html tag") = gstrObjectName(1)) Then
    oAllWebEdit(i).Set gstrObjectValue
    Exit for
    End If
    End If
    -------------------xxxxx---------------------

QTP fails to identify the text area and throws a "General Run Time" error at the statement "Set oAllWebEdit = Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage).ChildObjects(oWebEdi t)"

We have used "hwnd" and other properties instead of name and title. But still it is not working.

Any help regarding this issue is highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to enter data in WebEdit Text Area

As per my knowledge, as you are using Descriptive Programming, the object repository will not work in this case and the object details will not be stored in the Object repository, so how can u able to see anything in object repository?

If name property is not working then try with location ordinal identifier.

Re: Unable to enter data in WebEdit Text Area

    Try this:

'first of all verify if parent object exists '(Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage))
    If Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage).Exist(5000) Then
    Set oAllWebEdit = Browser(oBrowser).Page(oPage).ChildObjects(oWebEdi t)
    For i=0 to oAllWebEdit.Count-1
    ...
    Nobody is Perfect... i'm Nobody...
