    QTP 10.0 w/IE8 - Issue with WebList

    Ok I am stumped here...

I am testing out our scripts on IE8, well I am trying too. After working through an issue with modal windows not being seen correctly I am now having an issue with Weblist selections.

I have a weblist object that has been identified. I can highlight it in the command window, I can add it to the watch list and perform GetROProperties on it. But when I perform a ".Select Item" on it I get an error stating that the weblist cannot be found and to check my system for an item matching the properties!

I have checked for updates, and it does not seem that there are any. That confuses me as it seems to be mentioned on here to get an IE8 update for 10.0.

I could always make my own Select routine and override the function with my own, but I would rather use the built in version if possible.

    Thanks for the help.

Re: QTP 10.0 w/IE8 - Issue with WebList

Well I just made a custom function for the weblist's select method and overrode the old one with registeruserfunc. I may revisit it in the future and see if they have fixed my issue as I am not fully satisfied with the approach I had to take.

Re: QTP 10.0 w/IE8 - Issue with WebList

I did see a patch that should fix this for you.

I found it on the HP Search for Patches site while looking for something else. You'll need to login to the HP site.

This is the info on the patch:
    http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve...llowReturn=true

    QTPWEB_00037.EXE
Title: Support for Internet Explorer 8
    Document ID: KM743912
    Product: QuickTest Professional
    Version: 10.0
    OS: Windows
    Updated: 2009-Jun-03
    Critical: No

    Change Request: QC78301
This patch provides official support for testing Web
    applications in Internet Explorer 8.
It includes support for working with Internet Explorer 8
on all operating systems that QuickTest Professional
supports. (For the complete list, see the QuickTest
    Professional 10.00 Readme.)

It also resolves the following problems:
    * If both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Eplorer 8 are
installed on a computer and the Web tab of the QuickTest
Record & Run Settings dialog box was set to open a
specific URL in Mozilla Firefox, then when the record or
run session began, the Firefox browser was opened with
its default home page instead of the URL specified in the
Record and Run Settings dialog box.

    * Running a WebList.Select step using mouse replay type
for Internet Explorer 8 and all Mozilla Firefox versions
    failed.

    * Running a WebFile.Set step on Internet Explorer 8 or
Mozilla Firefox 3 failed without notification and the
"Choose File" dialog sometimes remained open.

    * When Recording on WebFile object in Internet Explorer 8,
the WebFile object was not recognized and multiple lines
    were recorded. For example:
    Browser("B").Dialog("Choose a File to Upload")
    .Edit("E").Set "file path"
    Browser("B").Dialog("Choose a File to Upload")
    .Button("OK")
    (Instead of the expected:
    Browser("B").Page("P").WebFile("WF").Set "file path")

Note that this is fixed only for the English version of
    Internet Explorer 8.

    * When an event handler was set from a javascript function
for an event that a Web Extensibility test object was
listening for, this event was not captured.

The following are previous hotfixes that are also
    contained in this patch:
QTPWEB_00020 - Performance Improvement for Running
Initial Steps on Modal Dialog Boxes.
QTPWEB_00030 - Solve Problem with Active Screen Capture
    for Some Web Pages.
    QTPWEB_00033 - Fix Browser.RefreshWebSupport for Internet
    Explorer 7.

Hmm, wonder why searching for any patches failed for me. I will check this out.

    Thanks for your help.
