I need to test globalization settings on my app. App lives on workstation A. The app connects to Server B for data. For my globalization test i need to change timezone on server B. Workstation A has qtp installed and runs the test. I need to either RDP to server B to change time zone settings or a vbscript that does this.
Is this possible?
can anyone point me in the right direction?
There are many examples on the internet on how to set the timezone in VBS, but the difficult part here is: how do you set the timezone on another PC?
I would create a small VBscript that runs on server B and checks for the existence of a file on a network folder from time to time (e.g. every second). When it finds the file it opens it, reads the content and sets the timezone according to the content of the file and then deletes the file.
All your QTP script on workstation A must do then is to create a file with the required timezone as file content and wait a couple of seconds. During this time the script on server B will pick the file and set the timezone.
