I have the following problem with QTP 9.2, XP SP2 and IE6 which I am hoping someone can help with:
3. The problem does not occur if I start IE first, go to the test website then start QTP.
4. And the problem does not occur at all on Windows 2003 SP2.
On both machines (XP and 2003) QTP was installed using the default settings and started with just the Web Add-In loaded.
We want to test this website on XP. Unfortunately if I start IE, load the website then start QTP (as per point 3), then QTP does not pick up all the events - it seems to pick up events applied to IE (e.g. Move & Resize events) but does not pick up anything applied to our web page in IE (Button presses, etc.,).
Many thanks, Paul
The basic funda in QTP is, always you need to open the tool first and then your application. If you do it in vice versa, you could have many problems.
As per your problem, are you using any functional libraries in you test? If yes, associate those libraries to your test. It may resolve your problem.
And also make sure the script is syntactically correct.
Include some more info.
I had not got as far as using a script. All I need to do is have QTP running and idle (with no scripts/tests or functional libraries loaded) for the problem to occur.
Anyway I upgraded the test machine to SP3 of XP and the problem went away - which has made me very happy!
