What is the best way to verify data

I have an application that has six pages of information the user have to select from and then on the seventh page the informatin is displayed. What is the best way to capture this data and verify the data displayed is what the user entered?

thanks in advance for your help!

    ie...
page one... user enters name, address
page two... user enters employment information
    ...etc

You can use an array to capture the data and verify it.

If the first 6 pages are populated via automation then you should have all of the strings entered as variables. You can then get the value from the fields and compare them to what was entered. I would suggest creating a seperate function to verify the input and pass in all of the variables entered in the previous screens. This will make the function very reusable.

    Cheers~

I can spin some psuedo code but first I'll need to know how in your code you are populating the first 6 pages. Are you using a data table, a set of pre-defined variables or with hard coded strings?

    Browser("Not Assigned").Page("Not Assigned").WebEdit("Not Assigned").Set strVALUE ' variable used

    Browser("Not Assigned").Page("Not Assigned").WebEdit("Not Assigned").Set "TEST" ' Hard coded string

    Browser( ).Page( ).WebEdit("street1").Set DataTable("Addy1", dtLocalSheet)
    Browser( ).Page( ).WebEdit("street2").Set DataTable("Addy2", dtLocalSheet)

    etc...

Re: What is the best way to verify data

    OK, I'll take a swag.

If you are entering data into a form, let's say you are using variables:

    strAddress1
    strAddress2
    intZIP

When I verify the last page:

Public function VeriyPage (strAddress1, strAddress2. intZIP)
    getvalue from UI Address1
    if Address1 <> strAdress1 then
    some code
    end if
    end function

You can pass in the values to the function as individual parameters, or build an array to pass in or if all of your data entered into the screen is in the datatable then your function would loop through the values there and then compare what is on the screen. Keep in mind that sometimes you pick up trailing spaces from a web app and should rTrim the strings before you compare.

Are you using a function library or action calls?

Ah, I have no experience using action calls. Our framework is Keyword based and uses function librarys only. Sorry I wasn't very helpful.

    Cheers~

no worries, I haven't used function libraries before, is that a better way to do them?

    Thanks your all your help
