I have an issue with a data table that I use in order to run various test cases.
Here is the scenario:
1. Open the XLS file to the user for modifying before the run, using 'SystemUtil.Run' command.
2. After user decides which test cases to run I then assign this XLS file to QTP using:
Set QTApp = CreateObject("QuickTest.Application")
QTApp.Test.Settings.Resources.DataTablePath = <my_xls_file>
Here is the problem. When opening the file through windows file system, I can see the file is OK, modified as it should be.
When I open the file through QTP's View->Data Table, the file is the original un-modified file.
From my experience, if you prepared the DataTable from the ms excel and import it to QTP, QTP can't use that file because they are differrent spreadsheet version between excel and QTP
but you can prepare data or your spreadsheet in the QTP application and right click to export it to be the external file for using unless you don't amend any information via ms excel.
other way, create your datatable format in QTP, export it to be the external file (.xls), next prepare your data via ms excel save it. Finally copy the content in your excel file to pase on the QTP datatable.
