"QuickTest Professional (QTP) does not currently support Windows 7.
Support for Windows 7 will be released as either a patch for QTP 10, or as a later version, QTP 10.x, at some point after the official release of Windows 7. There is not a specific date for the release of this support.
Earlier versions of QTP will not have support for Windows 7."
From a Service Request case I just started with HP I recieved the following info.
"Iím sorry that we still donít have the specific date when the support for Windows 7 will be provided.
But our senior engineer has mentioned that R&D is planning to support Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 by the end of this year on top of QTP 10."
Sorry to resurrect an old post but has anyone tried to record on IE 8 with QTP 10 installed in Windows 7? I'm getting the following.
Window("Windows Internet Explorer").Activate
FYI, the knowledgebase article that ttguy mentioned has been "retired" from the knowledgebase, which means that HP now supports QTP in Windows 7 environments. You can download the necessary patch (QTP_00644) from the ITRC via the following link:
Of course, you'll need a passport that is bound to the proper SAIDs in order to access this link. Once installed, you'll have to add a line of configuration to the mercury.ini file, which is explained in more detail in the patch's read_me.
I installed this patch yesterday - it worked fine and allowed the scripts I ran to work without issue. Prior to this patch, QTP would not start on my Win 7 box, as it could not perform the license check.
Along with admin rights, you'll want to make sure to disable your user account control prior to installing this (or any other) update, as there are still a lot of prompts and not responding to them in a timely manner will cause you to have to re-install the patch.
I am using trial version for QTP10 with windows7.
as seen from many forums, I have installed the two patches:
Also added entry "conhost.exe=0" in mercury.ini
But now while opening the QTP, I am getting the Licence error saying "the date has been modified on your windows operating system... " with option of Install Licence and cancel.
:-( what to do? It does not open up QTP.
