QTP Forgeting objects after 24 hours??

So I recorded my objects and my script yesterday, I ran it several times and it worked flawlessly.

This morning, first thing I do (without even reopenning QTP since it was already open) I try to run the script and the first error comes up.

I open the object repository and try to highlight an object in the application.. but its not there.

So click to add the existing object to see what it does, and it adds it with an _2 name...

So i run on maintanenace mode and it is asking me to click on every object to recognize them!!!!

Well my application has not changed, nobody has compiles or changed the code in anyway... so why did this happen and how can I prevent it?

Thank you.

Did you try restarting the application? i sometimes face this with the Browser object; i have to close the browser and re-open it. then everything works fine.

Check if the property of the object you are trying to identify contains a date or not.

Check if there are any property values differences between original object and _2 name object.

Re: QTP Forgeting objects after 24 hours??

I already checked them, they are identical. In this case they are WebExtensibility objects, so i know very well which values are being recorded and 100% sure they are the same, same hierarchy, etc.

In the past it happened with regular objects too, and I thought i was going crazy! but it happened again..,

Restarting did not help

Re: QTP Forgeting objects after 24 hours??

Here it goes.

Highlighting the one on the top returns 'object cant be found', the second one was added today and it highlights ok

Re: QTP Forgeting objects after 24 hours??

Oops.. linkdotbiz, ok so you are right, there is an inconsistency at the Browser object...

CreationTime,1 Vs CreationTime,0

Any ideas on how to get rid of this??

Re: QTP Forgeting objects after 24 hours??

Do not use the creation time property, instead use Name or title property to identify the browser. Creation time will not be same forever (specially if you don't know how many browsers will be opened while execution)..

Also If the similar objects are added to repository appending "_2" then you can go to Tool->Options->Web->Page and Frame setting and there you can make some changes so that the same objects will not be added again..

Regards,
~Manish

P.S. I do not have QTP in my machine at home so the navigation can be bit different than what I mentioned
Thanks and Regards,
~Manish
