I am getting hired for a job where I need to know QTP and SQL queries. I do have QTP knowledge but I do not debug. I have already explained tto recruiter that I usually do not deal with a code. Also I explained that I do black box testing. Here is a question: Does evey automation QA should know how to do debugging in QTP? If yes, how does one do it? Any good tutorials on QTP and debugging specifically?thanks
There are a whole range of skills that go hand in hand to be effective with QTP. Having some knowledge of QTP is a long way from being able to use it.
>I do have QTP knowledge<
I don't think so :-(
>I usually do not deal with a code<
It is required to deal with code you are writing in QTP.
>Also I explained that I do black box testing<
You do black box testing of your application.
As for your own scripts - it is very-very white :-)
Even more: being in Automation space of testing, to write good script (Test Case) - you will need sometimes to know developer's code very well.
>Does every automation QA should know how to do debugging in QTP?<
>how does to do it?<
Debugging as concept is testing your own code. Proving there is no Error in it.
1. If your are playing back the code, that QTP recorded for you during recording - it is debugging.
2. If you are temporary adding simple MessageBox inside of your code, to see value of variable your are using - it is debugging.
3. In Expert Mode - it you put breading point on the line you want to stop your script - it is debugging.
4. If you are mastering in Expert View, can put break points, go further line by line, configure tool to show you in run time your variables values, DataTable values and so on - it is DEBIGGING
>Any good tutorials on QTP<
