    IE explorer popup issue

    Hi All,
    I have a browser and a browsr popup in my OR.

    Browser has
    no properties and
    Smart Identification enabled.

    Browserpopup has
    hastoolbar = False
    hasmenubar = False
    CreationTime,1
    Smart Identification = false

    It was working fine and identifying the IE popups for the last 2-3 months. Now I am facing that the Browserpopup is identifying the Main browser if no popup is present. This is causing me problems where I have pieces of code

    If Browser("popup").exist
    Browser("popup").close
    end if

    Here its identifying the main browser as popup and closing thus causing my test cases fail. This is a starnge one .. has anyone encoutred similar ones? any workarounds/ solutions?
    QTP = 9.2 and IE7

    Many Thanks

    Re: IE explorer popup issue

    This issue is that QTP will not use any ordinal identifiers in case only one object exists. You can check it in a smart way

    <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>
    If Browser("popup").exist and Not Browser("CreationTime:=-1").Exist(0) Then
    Browser("popup").close
    end if
    </pre><hr />

    Re: IE explorer popup issue

    Hi Tarun,

    Thanks for the reply. The code is working fine but I didn't get what "CreationTime:=-1" stands for? I went thru the help files again but understood that the creation time starts from 0. Could you please explain the logic/smart way here?

    Many Thanks

    Re: IE explorer popup issue

    See a valid value for CreationTime starts from 0, So when we have Browser("CreationTime:=-1").Exist(0) and it returns True then the only reason could be that CreationTime property was not used while checking for browser existence. And that would only when only 1 browser exists.
