I'm using QTP version 9.2 and I've been asked to try and use QTP's Web Service Add-in (also version 9.2) to try and test some web services we're creating for our next generation of software. Up until now, I've never used the Web Services Add-in before, so this is all new to me.
The first (and only) service I have to work with now is our Login service. This was written using .Net 3.5 SP1. When I use the Web Services wizard in QTP, I receive the following error message after the system attempts to scan the WSDL:
"The Selected Service is Invalid. Try a Different Service."
This error occurs even though I'm able to successfully navigate to and capture the web service.
At this point, we noticed a note at the bottom of the dialog box, indicating to the user that by default, the system scans the service using the .Net 2.0's WSE 3.0 toolkit. So I went out and tried to find a newer version of WSE. Unfortunately, the newest version of WSE is 3.0 from 2005. From what I understand, WSE was replaced with WCF.
So with that in mind, can anyone tell me what I should do to resolve the error I'm encountering and if I'll be able to test web services created using .Net 3.5 (or above) using the Web Services Add-in?
I tried re-installing .Net 3.5 after I read your response.
Unfortunately, it didn't resolve the issue I'm getting. Is there anything else you (or anyone else reading this) suggest I try doing? Does anyone know what all is taken into consideration when the system tries to scan a web service?
