How to capture dynamic URL using QTP

    Hello All,

    Here is my problem:
    1. login to main application
    2. Click a Link to launch specific Application
    3. Click a link to launch specific version of the Application
on Step 3 when we click the link there is a function call and within the function call the URL is formed with some dynamic info (URL + dynamic ID)

I have recorded the script. Now upon playing back, QTP is not able to launch the application after the 3rd step.

    Please help

    Issue? Error that QTP raises?

Cannot identify the object "URL Link Name" (of class Link). Verify that this object's properties match an object currently displayed in your application.

What are the properties recorded in OR?

    Also use below

    Browser("Browser").Page("Page").Highlight

to make sure you are using the correct browser.

In you OR, use Regular expression for text. Change it to
    Version specific-ver.*

Re: How to capture dynamic URL using QTP

I tried changing the OR with Reg. Expression and it is still throwing the same error.

Is there something we need to look at the function call which form the dynamic URL

    As mentioned earlier:
    [ QUOTE ]
on Step 3 when we click the link there is a function call and within the function call the URL is formed with some dynamic info (URL + dynamic ID) and opens the new page in the same browser.

    [/ QUOTE ]
