    QC/QTP vs just QTP

We have a new testing requirement from our customer to test hardware/software patches in a closed environment which means not being able to access our current QC and QTP license servers. I don't see a benefit to purchasing a new instance of QC since there won't be anyway to syncronise test cases/scripts anyway. Not to mention the lower cost by just purchasing QTP seat licenses.

What am I losing/gaining by scraping QC for this specific project?

Just batch execution and some other stuff that you easily implement yourself. You can share the scripts by making a shared folder on of the PC

That's kind of what I was thinking. Plus, I would gain the ability to share common libraries across "projects"

you lose a bit of scope on the MI side of it - with quality center you will have a full history of your runs linked back to test requirements (for req coverage stats) and linked defects, time elapsed stats etc

It depends how much your manager loves stats or not!

in this case, we are not concerned with requirements or defects. They just want results before the patches are released to the field. These are vendor patches from Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, etc.
