Processor for QTP 9.2

I am looking to buy a laptop. Can anyone tell me that QTP 9.2 of 9.5 requires which specifications?
Is IBM-T40 good enough to run it smoothly.

Basic requirements would be 1GB of RAM, ideal requirements 2GB of RAM, both with a reasonable CPU speed.

Re: Processor for QTP 9.2

512 MB RAM minimum (better 1GB), 1 GHz P4 CPU minimum (I would recommend 2GHz), see the QTP readme file for details.

It also depends on your application under test. If you are going to test a real fat fat client then you will probably need some more RAM and / or CPU, because usually you will have at least two applications running in parallel: QTP and your application under test.

If you applications client is fast, but your server quite slow then the T40 could do the job. If you have a rather fast application under test with lots of GUI elements, which uses different technologies (different QTP plug-ins need to be loaded) then I would prefer a more powerful laptop.

Should be ok for learning, try to get the 1GB RAM. You'll have much more fun.

Depends on your definition of fun Tarun, perhaps if you have to go for a coffee while waiting for QTP to load then yes 512 would be better.

Fun because sometimes QTP would act funny and unexpectedly with 512MB ram. When things go too smooth in life there is no fun as such

Hum, lets see...

Rough list price of QTP is around $8K for a seat license and $12K for a floating license. Even if you are God's gift to negotiation and buy in large quanity these numbers are unlikey to be reduced by no more than 30%. Oh, and lets not forget the first year of forced maintenance at 22%.

2Gig versus 512K of laptop RAM is like maybe a $50-100 delta (for a bad negotiator).

So, the reason for going with a 512K laptop is?
