Each page of our webapplication has the same physical description , this means that a page cannot be uniquely identified.I can only see some data the identifies each page when i look at the HTML source , now i was thinking of letting winrunner check this with rightmousebtn click and then view source ... but i do think that this is not the best way to do it ........ does anybody else have experience with this kind of issue and how did you solve it ?
Our web application encounters the same issue, mainly due to programmer laziness on our part, but one section that updates frequently is all titled the same.
To get around it we implemented a lookup list of a field to verify presence of when navigating to a new frame/window. Once this field was located and no error returned, we knew the window was loaded.
In our implementation, it was more than just the field, as we also listed what GUI we needed to load and what was the active window's name (as our application did have some windows that were named different, but it is also a multi window display, so we had windows within windows at times for some controls), and then an extra field which informed us of the control name and type to look for.
