There are reasons why Mercury's tools leave some artifacts around to be found by new installations. Prior to versions 6.x of mercury's tools, WinRunner, TD and LoadRunner were very heavily pirated. To this day there are versions of the tools that if someone showed up here with them the person would be assumed to be a pirate, both due to the advanced age of the product and the installation security that the particular version lacked.
You are using a Trial license key, one of a little age I might add. The purpose of this key is to allow you to evaluate the product prior to purchase. Not to train. Not to use as an additional copy to help with production. Not for your personal education. With a trial key you havge two avenues for support, The Mercury sales organization or the Mercury VAR who supplied you with the trial licensed product.
Uf you are having issues, let them know. Tell the party you are working with that your evaluation has come to a stop and your purchase decision will be delayed as a result. If youa re evaluating other tools, be sure and mention how well the other evaluations are proceeding as a way to light the fire under the Mercury sales organization. If you did not receive the trial licensed product direct from Mercury and are not involved in a sales evaluation, well, expect that you will probably not receive any support unless you demonstrate that you have sign off authority and a need for WinRunner.
