I don't have access to the Test Director Database. But I want to do the some reporting based on the History tab data. So I thought of using WinRunner to read the values from History tab. But when I tried with Web-Test Add-in, it recognized the table as "TFlatGrid".
(1) Is this the right add-in to learn the Test Director table as normal data table.
(2) Does any body have any sample scripts done for Test Director objects
Learning Test Director via WinRunner is not something you really want to do. Most of the objects aren't recognizable, and automating against your test case repository is just a disaster waiting to happen
Sincere advice Test the application, not the testing tool
Believe me, I have been there, done that and it doesn't really serve any purpose. Of course its an entirely different matter if you have a lot of time on hand..... :
I am not tesing the Test Director (even I will hate to do). I want to do some reporting based on the Test Director History tab. Since I dont have access to Test Director, I have 2 options for the recent release,
1. Go through History Tab manually and collect the data
2. Using WinRunner, collect the data.
I still stand by my statement that it isn't a good idea to script against Test Director, even for data pulling, but I am a confused. In one statement you say you don't have access to Test Director, but then state you are trying to read the history tab.
So you mean you don't have access to the Test Director database? If that is the case, you can work around the issue by talking with your DBA or TD admin to gain access to the database by performing queries instead of relying on the interface (which is made of components I don't think you are going to be able to script with WinRunner anyway as they aren't completely identifiable). A read only id can be created on the database just for this purpose to prevent accidental data loss.
