Operation is not appropriate for this widget class

    Hello Everyone,

I am trying to record a Winrunner script for a PowerBuilder application. I recorded a step to click on a Tab but it is recording it as "edit_set_Insert_Pos" instead of tab_Select_Item. If I re-run the script it does not click on the tab. If I configure the gui map and chage the description to tab then i get the above error. Any help in this area is much appreciate.

    Thanks
    Fmtjatt

    Are you using PB addin?
    What version of PB ?
    What version of WR ?
Maybe you can use obj_click_on_text as a workaround.

Yes, we are using PB Addins. I think we are using PB version 8.0 and WR Version 7.5.

Re: Operation is not appropriate for this widget class

I'm having a similar problem trying to move between tabbed screens in PB10. WR just doesnt record the mouse click or keystroke to PB. obj_type didnt seem to work for the overall window or the tab object. A bare (and clunky) 'type ("< kRight_E >");' does work to move across one tab to the right, simluating pressing the right arrow key. Remove the spaces around kRight_E to make it work; it wont display at QAforums if you enter it properly!

vole, use the code meta-tags around your example, then it will display correctly.

Well, the 7.5 combination on WinXPSP2 would cause problems. SO maybe focus on the results from the 8.0 installation across both OSs.
