I am trying to check the XML data returned from a web-service in a html-text box.
I need to check whether the data is correct i.e. whether one of the records returned is what was desired or not?
I am trying to do this by copy this xml data to some variable or to a file and then check using string comparisons.
The problem I am facing is that when i try to copy the XML data from the web-page to some file or into a variable, it inserts newline characters and only a partial data comes.
1. What is the limit on strings in Winrunner?
(The when I copy paste this data in MS Word, the word count is around 24-25 K)
2. Is there any better way of checking this XML data?
The normal limit on text size for WinRunner is about 1024 characters I think, you can go to the Merc CSO site and find KB articles on how to increase that number, but the max is about 4K.
If there is any way you can write the xml file out to the local systm and deal with it, I am sure you will have better results.
There is also a user add-in posted in the downloads section for WinRunner on the Merc CSO site that is specifically to deal with XML files. I haven't personally tried it in quite a while, so beyond that I can't tell you much about how it would help your situation, but it is something to try out.
