Few people like to go to interview fully prepared and few don't. There is nothing wrong in refreshing your past/obsolete knowledge prior to interview. One who doesn't know anything about me, should not be judgemental.

Inept automation managers who can't determine the difference hurt our credibility even worse. These are usually the same ones who believe automation is a one time effort, doesn't require programming knowledge, and is a point and click process. If he fakes his way in, his manager is likely to fail, and will likely be replaced by one who better understands the value of a good automation engineer. Go ahead and try.
