Data Base Connection
I am using system dsn to connect with database.So i can give the dsn name directly in the script(backend is MS-Accesss).ie,for example DSN= Test_Sample then the tSL is
db_connect("sess" , "DSN=Test_Sample" );
There is no problem if the backend is MS-Access.but the backend is SQL Server then the same TSL doesn't connect with dabase because of the password issue.so i have to give entire connection string instead of DSN NAME.
db_connect ( "sess" , "DSN=Test_Sample;UID=aaa;PWD=aaa123;APP=WinRunner; WSID=SERVER11;DATABASE=master;Network=DBMSSOCN" );
My doubt is Cann't we give DSN name directly for SQL SERVER/Oracle Back End?.
Thanks In Advance
Re: Data Base Connection
Yes you can use a DSN name if you set it up beforehand. I would think it easier to have the connection string in your script, preferably a startup script.
Use the Advanced Search to your upper right.
Input "dsn" for text to search for. Select the WinRunner forum from the list of forums to search. Press search. You small efforts will be rewarded with good examples of connection strings. Please note the use of the driver args and the slight variations in syntax of Access versus SQLServer.
Having to use a userid/password on a db is a good thing!
