Does any one know how write a script to save txt files to excel files?
I have a list of txt files and I want to save them as excel files, I used dos command to copy txt files to excel files, but it did not work completely right because they were saved as tab delimited files. Is there another way without having opening each file individually and save it as excel format....
1. Go to Folsed Options (Tools->Folder Options)
2. Go to View Tab
3. Uncheck "Hide file extention for known file types"
4. Close that Dialog
5. Now you can see .txt with each of ur file
6. Make ur script just to change the extention from .txt to .xls
By doing so, I can see the xls file but there is no data in it.
i,e first I created a file(file1.txt) and entered "Converting txt to xls" , saved and closed it.
Then I went to Windows explorer and I could see file1.xls but when I opened it there was no data in it.
what I am basically trying to do in my application is,(get a record set)backend testing by executing db_execute_query. then put the obtained results(record set) into a text file using db_write_records. I am not sure if I can write the obtained record set in to a xls file. If I can do it, perfect. but help for "db_write_records" says that output file is the name of the textfile into which record set is written. so, if I cannot put the record set into a xls file, I will have to put it in a text file and then convert it into xls file.
Thatz when I will have to see the data in xls file also.
Any idea as to how this problem can be solved?
