    WinRunner & Version Control

We use Rational Clearcase. We do not want to check out all the
scripts and actions for each test run as this is not realistic. We
can not write to datatables in this situation. Do you have some
workaround for this? Is there some way to specify excel formatting
within columns? Can you copy a spreadsheet over (Including
formatting) and then use it as read/write file for the test?

    Re: WinRunner & Version Control

I am not sure how Clearcase works, but we use VSS for version control on WinRunner scripting.

VSS has a setting we can choose that when we get the latest version of the code it can be made writable. That get's us around the issue of not being able to run the scripts while in the folder structure we have set up in VSS

As for the spreadsheet - if it is readable, then you shouldn'at have to copy anything from it.

With formatting are you talking about formulas or column type formatting?

sheesh - couldn't he have waited another week to at least let the thread have been dead one year????? -10 points for style, in addition to -50 for the wrong type of question for the forum and -25 expecting to be given an answer that can be garnered from simply hitting F1 while in VSS. There are a couple of ways to make the files writable, each being dependent on how you want to use the information.

I suggest you contact your VSS admin (additionally if you ARE The VSS admin, I would turn off the computer and walk away slowly. It won't attack if you don't make any sudden moves), or as mentioned, simply hit F1 while in the VSS application. The help file for the application is decent enough to get you info on what you need.
