how to handle changeable environment
How do you handle changed environment, for example, if you have a web page that contains images and data that always change, how do you handle capturing data in such environment?
My method for such a problem is by assigning parameters to gui checking functions,
Is this a right approached or there is a better solution?
Anther approach I have heard some people using is running all scripts in UPDATE mode, but I see a risk in such approach since UPDATE mode will update the base data..
So my question what is your approach? How do you handle such problem in WinRunner, please advise, thanks
Re: how to handle changeable environment
Using parms sounds about right, but it all depends on careful thought and design of what parts of the data & images you actually want to check... if it is constantly changing, then how relevant is checking/capturing it? The update mode idea revolves around the same thing - what is it you actually want to set as your "expected values" when it is always changing?
The problem usually is more along the lines of how to get winrunner to handle these windows/objects when their properties by which they are recognised (by default) are constantly changing. This is a recurring subject in this forum so if you search on specifics you'll find lots of helpful detail on methods to do it...
