Can anyone tell when do we get a general error ?
what do you mean by a general error?
I would say that was a very general question, on a general error, generally speaking.

When we get to see a post like this!!
I am getting a 'General Error' message (in a dialog) from Winrunner when executing a web_obj_get_info line in a test script. Not very explanatory. Any clues?
Can you post the code so we can have a look.
Here is your chance to have your "say". you need to provide more details. What exactly is happening when this occurs? Is there a TSL statement failing? What are you trying to do? crichman
You did what we call hijacking a post. Please post your own topic and give more details. Read the FAQ and the topic at the top of this forum.
I've found that this error is usually (generally!) related to winrunner not being able to find an object in certain situations. Eg the lines below from our script to test "MS Access" often gave us the general error if WR failed on the right click:
set_window ("Open", 5);
list_select_item ("SysListView32", "dbWRTest.mdb", RIGHT);
menu_select_item ("Delete"); # Delete database
If the right click failed, then the menu with "Delete" on it did not appear and winrunner stopped with "General error"...
(My workaround in this case was to do it in a different way - select the item with LEFT click and then use win_type(window, "<kDel_E>") instead)
