I'm going to be using WR 7.01 to be testing a web application (ASP .net) on IE 6. I understand that this version of WR needs a patch in order to recognize html elements in IE 6. The problem is that my company doesn't have a current support contract with Mercury. Do they seriously require a contract just to download updates to a product we are legitimately using? Also, I personally am brand new to WR and to testing also (I have more of a development background). Does WR lend itself fairly well to web testing in the environment I described?
Thanks for the offer rmakam, but I don't want to get you in trouble In all seriousness however, the policy is ludicrous. The fact that we don't have a current support agreement with them does not change the fact that we have a licensed copy of their product. We should be entitled to patches. WR is not particularly useful to me without that functionality, and Mercury's policy hardly makes me want to hit management up for a "support agreement" let alone any of their newer tools. Anyone know of an open source tool that might fit my needs?
