I have few questions in my mind
When u use the winrunner for testing the application, one should write the compiled modules?
Is it not builtin with the winrunner?
Because I m learning with 7.01 version. It has compiled modules in it.What all will be there when u use it for first time for testing the application.
If u write compiled modules, the how much u write?
I mean when test the appln it will be recorded, will in inturn call compiled module? To test it , one should write the compiled module?
I appreciate the response friends!
When automating the tests for an application you will have several test scripts. Some of them access the same features of your application (e.g. restarting the application, logging into the application, change some general settings of your application, open a GUI window, ...).
In order to avoid programming these functions in each test script you can develop a compiled module which stores these functions (and which can be loaded & accessed by all test scripts).
Surely you can also use the compiled modules that already exist (those delivered by Mercury). But developing his own compiled modules definitely makes sense...
Compile modules are those scripts, which are going to be used at Multiple places.....so to reduce the redundance on the code you will conver that part of the code into compile module to make it generic. So that you can pass the rest of the parameters while calling the function of compile module.
So it becomes mandatory to write compile module specifc to your application
