Re: winrunner\'s TE, LoadRunner(RTE) for 3270
Yes, a subset of commands specific to Terminal emulation environments exist for both WinRunner and LoadRunner. In WinRunner, rich information related to 3270 and 5250 objects is pulled from the HLLAPI stream, such than object information related to color, state (blinking, etc...), and other information can be culled from the terminal emulator.
In LoadRunner's case, there is no terminal emulator, we are going right against the RTE presentation layer interface over IP. Rich object information for syncrhonization of client and server behavior and correlation and insertion of information certainly exists, and if you wished to mock up some correlation statements, you could certainly pull information on color attributes if you wished.
The full API for each is documented in the WinRunner t/e add in and also in the LoadRunner creating virtual users manual under the user type for RTE. The documentation is beyond the scope of what can be included in a response and a pure copy and paste of the information would be both inappropriate and also a violation of the end user license agreement.
Viswa, if you are a current LoadRunner user you should already have the information you seek. I take it that you are not a user of the WinRunner TE add-in yet. I would suggest contacting your Mrcury sales representative or partner organization about evaluating a copy for purchase. Access to the documentation and product would be available to you for the term of the evaluation. There would be an expectation on the part of Mercury that at the end of a successful evaluation of the tool you would purchase it. Lacking that committment it may not be possible for Mercury or a partner organization to conduct a product evaluation with you.
