i m learning winrunner my question is that wht is most popular mode for ruining the winrunner
global gui or gui test mode.
seems like gui test mode is more reliable and less complicated.but normally wht is popularily used in test cases and reason why
For new learners GIU Per Test Mode is best, because they are in learning WR. They don't have to maintain scritps for future etc., etc.,
Global GUI Map file is used in real time, because if you are using same objects in multiple scripts then you need to load and unload within the scripts respectively so that if any objects changes you have to change at one place etc.,
In GUI Map file per test mode you have to main N number of gui map files to maintain script upto date against application etc.,
This is one of the example there will be lot of such situations in realtime.
I personally go the way of one GUI per window/screen as it makes updating far easier. I also am currently in the middle of building an automated test framework for the application we are working on, and through lookup tables reference the window to the correct GUI map.
That is just the way I am going about it, as I have found the manner in which the application I am working to build the ATF against is designed in a manner that it is easier for maintenace to use far more, smaller GUIs. Other applications it could make sense to go the one GUI route.
