i have a question, and i didn't find anything that could resemble an answer in forum so far...
How to record a context menu and all of its choices in GUI map, if the sub menu doesn't have any symbol over which WinRunner could recognize it (... , >>), and there is no keyboard shortcut to call upon the function within the tested application...
to summarize, the only way i can test what i want to test is: mouse right click > menu opens > submenu opens > i choose an option (within tested app)
And i can not record these menus in GUI map.. I even tried to do it over file per test mode, but still it doesn't recognizes context menu unless it has clear identification (... , >>)
I've gotten it to work quite reliably with a right-click to bring up the context menu, followed by a set_window("Transparent Windows Client") and using the down arrow/enter key to select the option that I want.
It may depend on which version of WR is being used, add-ins being used and what type of application is being tested. This would explaing varying results. I have also successfully recorded right clicking on an item, getting a drop down menu and making a selection.
Quality is the result of a carefully constructed cultural environment. It has to be the fabric of the organization, not part of the fabric.
