I am using WinRunner 7.01. Currently am facing problems related to security popup alerts during web testing.
Frequency of these security popups varies which creates problem for me during playback of my script.
Is there any method that WinRunner handle these security popup alerts automatically and I remove these security alerts lines from my script.
As javasans said u can deal with the exception using the web exception handling wizard. Alternatively u can write the handler function to deal with the popup then u can use the define_popup_exception. Winrunner has some good help in TSL,UserGuide and also in sample application.
Sorry EngArchEnemy, I cant lower browser security because am doing acceptance testing and created the same platform environemnt which will be used by the user on production environment.
Javasans and Force, Thanx for your previous answers and I tried to deal with the exceptions using exception handling wizard. it workied fine but two exceptions could not be handled by this wizard. I mean in my testing application 6 or 7 exceptions pops up. WinRunner handles all except two popups. I dont know why even entered exact criteria in wizard for those two exceptions.
Remember that these 6 or 7 exception popups are of two types. One is Security Alert and second is Security Alert. Can you please help me to handle remaining two exceptions through WinRunner.
"One is Security Alert and second is Security Alert."??
Are u having 2 different types of popup? what different buttons do they contain. and wht is the button u wanna press? Let me know.. if i can figure out a solution i will let u know.
Sorry this was a typo actuly one is "Security Alert" and second is "Security Warning". Both have same Buttons but Titles and Texts are different. I have added both in Exception Handler Wizard. WinRunner handles only Security Alerts but does not handle Security Warnings popups.
Instead of adding the exception to wizard trying making a script... on this line..
# This is the handler function for popup that will take care of the security error
# u can uncomment it but if this popup is frequently coming just keep the exception on
# enter any button that u wanna press or action u wanna perform
set_window ("Microsoft Internet Explorer", 5);
# get back to the main window of ur application
set_window("Browser Main Window",15);
tl_step("Blast the Errors", 0, "HEEEEEEE");
# declare the exception that will
define_popup_exception("Security_Pop", "Security_Error", "Microsoft Internet Explorer");
# Get the exception working
Thanks Force for prompt respond. I think my problem will be resolved with this handler function but I need to clarify some other things like:
Where should I write this exception function. Should I write in my existing test script or some other place as a compiled code. When and from where I should call this function.
